(WLOS) — Welcome to spring! It rolled in at 10:46 a.m. Friday morning with temperatures around freezing for many.
Spring, or the vernal equinox, is when Earth’s tilt reaches a point where the sun hits directly at the equator.
The word ‘Equinox’ is Latin for Equal Night.
Anywhere in the world, there’s the same amount of daylight and darkness on this date (12 hours each).
As Earth tilts more toward the sun, leading into Summer, daylight increases and so do the temperatures here in the Northern Hemisphere.
