
Got into astro in January and just captured the milky way core for my first time this morning from Northern California. Since I'm pretty new to astro as a whole, any tips on improvement and what I could do different would be much appreciated.

Lovely framing.
Look into stacking. You take multiple short exposures, and average the pixels (software does all this for you). It reduces noise so you can brighten the image more. Watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DbUkgjf6gs
20 secs also seems to be pushing it a little with that lens and no tracking, you can shorten that and make up for it in stacking.
