The Utica Comets have announced that they’ve recalled forward Tag Bertuzzi from the Adirondack Thunder. Bertuzzi, 25, has spent the majority of the season with the Thunder as he’s put up 14 goals and 12 assists for 26 points in 35 games. He’s also played in 11 games this season with the Comets, but has yet to find the scoresheet. For Bertuzzi, this is second call-up of this season after beginning the season with the Comets. This comes after Jack Malone was injured last Saturday and is expected to miss up to three weekends according to Ben Birnell of the Utica Sentinel. I would expect to Bertuzzi to see time on the bottom-six during his time with the Comets.
For Adirondack, this is a big loss as the Brannon McManus-Tag Bertuzzi-Chase McLane was one of the best lines for Adirondack before being broken up last weekend during the series against the Wheeling Nailers. With Bertuzzi up in Utica, expect Tanner Edwards to find his way back into the Thunder lineup moving forward, with Daniel Amesbury also being another option for Head Coach Sylvain Cloutier. This comes at a tough time for the Thunder as they are three games in three different cities starting tomorrow night in Reading.
