NGC7380 – The Wizard Nebula

  1. I recently had a fairly major surgery and haven’t been able to image in quite some time, so I have been going back and reprocessing old data, and I am finding I am much happier with my recent results. This was originally imaged back in Sept and Oct 2022.

    126 x 300s Ha

    86 x 300s Oiii

    41 x 600s Sii

    90 x 60s Red

    90 x 60s Green

    90 x 60s Blue

    30 flats for each filter, 91 darks (61 x 300s and 30 x 600s), 60 dark flats

    Celestron 8″ EdgeHD

    ZWO ASIAIR Plus, ASI294MM Pro, ASI174MM Mini for guiding, EAF, EFW

    Skywatcher EQ6R-Pro

    Pegasus Power Box advance

    Processed entirely in Pixinsight.

    Nebula Processing:

    Weighted Batch Pre Processing to stack (Ha, Oiii, Sii, R, G, B).

    StarXterminator on each channel. Discard stars on Ha, Oiii and Sii, discard backgrounds on R, G, and B.

    NoiseXterminator on each channel

    LRGB Combine (no Luminance, Sii in R, Ha in G, Oiii in B)

    Automatic Background Extraction

    Correct Magenta stars to get rid of purple tint.

    Histogram and Curves adjustments

    Stars Processing:

    LRGB Combine RGB channels

    StarXterminator

    Manual stretch on the stars

    Pixel Math to combine stars and nebula.
