Looks like refraction but from my understanding a rainbow always forms a circle or a bow. This is almost shaped like a pyramid. I know the stupid tree is right in the way, but that's what it looked like to the naked eye so I don't think it's something with the camera.

Atmospheric refraction distorting the light can do this (and create all sorts of other strange shapes).
