WASHINGTON — The American Geophysical Union (AGU) is partnering with Content With Purpose (CWP) to produce “Our World, Our Future: Science in Action,” an ambitious new digital series exploring how Earth and space science connects discovery with real-world impact, shaping lives, livelihoods and futures across the globe.
From climate change and natural hazards to water security, food systems, the energy transition and planetary health, Earth and space sciences sit at the heart of society’s most pressing challenges. “Our World, Our Future” will connect scientific discovery with lived experience and demonstrate how research directly affects people and communities everywhere.
Through cinematic storytelling, expert insight and real-world case studies, the series will showcase how scientific discovery is advancing solutions – translating knowledge into action that benefits both people and the planet.
Stories will span continents and disciplines, highlighting impacts felt worldwide: from farmers adapting to climate variability, to coastal communities preparing for rising seas, to cities strengthening resilience against extreme weather.
By exploring how rigorous, ethical and inclusive scientific practice underpins informed decision-making and societal progress, Our World, Our Future will humanise complex research and help foster public understanding and confidence in evidence-based knowledge.
A central focus of the series will be collaboration – showing how scientists and communities work together to co-create solutions with local relevance and global significance.
Janice Lachance, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the AGU, said: “Earth and space science plays a vital role in helping society understand and respond to the challenges we face. “Our World, Our Future” will shine a light on the scientists, partnerships and communities turning discovery into impact, and show how evidence-based science helps shape a more resilient, equitable and sustainable future for all.”
Max Smith, Founder and Managing Director of CWP, added: “This series is about bringing science to life. We’re hugely excited to use our storytelling expertise to create a platform to share how Earth and space science is driving real-world action for people and the planet.”
“Our World, Our Future” will demonstrate how science is not only advancing knowledge, but actively shaping a better future.
The series will preview at AGU26 in San Francisco (7–11 December 2026), followed by a global digital launch in January 2027. A dedicated digital campaign will extend its reach across AGU’s global network and beyond, engaging scientists, policymakers, partners and the wider public in understanding how science drives action for our world and our future.
CWP is a B Corp certified strategic content creator that works in partnership with leading member bodies and associations, engaging professionals in their industries’ role in building a better tomorrow.
Organizations interested in contributing to the series are encouraged to contact Jodie Webber, Series Development Manager at CWP to learn more: [email protected].
AGU (www.agu.org) is a global community supporting more than half a million professionals and advocates in Earth and space sciences. Through broad and inclusive partnerships, AGU aims to advance discovery and solution science that accelerate knowledge and create solutions that are ethical, unbiased and respectful of communities and their values. Our programs include serving as a scholarly publisher, convening virtual and in-person events and providing career support. We live our values in everything we do, such as our net zero energy renovated building in Washington, D.C. and our Ethics and Equity Center, which fosters a diverse and inclusive geoscience community to ensure responsible conduct.
