So I've been trying to get my alternative history scenarios out there for a while now – tried writing them, but honestly didn't have much readers. So now I've been trying to use those ai voices to have my stories in audio content.
Eventually landed on making them as long-form sleep-listening format. Anyway, been working on this Genghis Khan scenario and it's fascinating how much changes. Some things I woudln't expect before I wrote this story:
- The Silk Road can beome *less* safe without the Pax Mongolica, and trade between East and West stays fragmented for centuries longer
- Russia develops completely differently
- no Mongol yoke means Moscow never rises to prominence the way it did
- Gunpowder might stay a Chinese secret much longer, which totally reshapes European warfare
-
The Black Death potentially doesn't spread to Europe (or spreads very differently) since Mongol armies were one of the key vectors
What do you think would be the biggest ripple effect? I feel like I'm missing some major consequences. (For anyone curious or wanting to give feedback on the format/approach, I put the full exploration here: [LINK] – it's about an hour long, part 1 of 2. Still very much learning how to do this well, so genuinely open to thoughts.)
