My question is what could an alien species with ftl travel possibly want with combining their genes with humans,to just have ftl means you should be able to solve many societal issues with technological advancement. Even if they were going extinct just use your own cells to clone or breed with another grey.

So, you know how there are tons of people having issues with fertility, or other chronic illnesses that would otherwise prevent their genes from spreading to the next generation, if it wasnt for technology?

Imagine a thousand years from now, all of the complications from a line of genetics of people who should have died surviving, passing in their unworking genes. The cost of dealing with that will be huge.

Now imagine a million years of this kind of devolution.
    Now 100 million.

They may not have a good example of working DNA to start with to try to solve these problems. And thats where we come in.

Well, I’ve got two main things I’ve pondered over the years that touch on this.

One, when 3i Atlas came through it’s surface heated, and large droplets of water actually exited the asteroid. This object came from potentially far, far away, and now that we know it happens, there’s a good chance that dna/chemistry could be spread around like this throughout the galaxy.

As to whether it was accidental just through natural process, or intentional? Or if aliens now want to experiment with the DNA of other worlds? That could come down to learning, curiosity, or even just sheer boredom. Say humans conquered all our issues, we lived in harmony. What then? The only thing left would be doing the things you haven’t already, and I guess that would mean cultivating planets and species, kind of like your own personal bonsai garden.

Of course if you feel these ideas are BS lol, you’re probably right. A large part of me says if very advanced species roam the universe, they probably don’t care about us at all. That science has been observed and learned from a million times over, it’d be like stopping to examine a rock on the side of the road on your way to work.
