A new update about Alien: Earth Season 2 has surfaced as the next chapter of the sci-fi series begins taking shape. One of the show’s lead actors recently shared an early production detail that sheds light on when the series may return to cameras.
Sydney Chandler says Alien: Earth Season 2 will start production in May
Sydney Chandler told Deadline that production on Season 2 of Alien: Earth will begin in May.
The actor confirmed the timeline during a Texas Film Awards press event, stating that filming for the FX series created by Noah Hawley is set to start. Chandler also said she has not yet seen any scripts for the upcoming season.
The production team previously filmed Alien: Earth in Thailand but is now moving production to Pinewood Studios in London. Pinewood has longstanding ties to the franchise, as filmmakers shot the original 1979 Alien film, Alien 3, and the prequel Prometheus at the studio. The shift places the series in a filming location connected to earlier installments in the science fiction franchise.
Executive Producer/Producing Director Dana Gonzales previously indicated that work on the new season was beginning. In an Instagram post, Gonzales wrote, “Super excited to start the journey of @alienearthfx season 2. World building in the Alien universe birthplace.” The post included an image referencing production preparations at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.
Sydney Chandler portrays Wendy in Alien: Earth, a hybrid character who leads a group called the Lost Boys. The series describes them as six prototype hybrids created by Prodigy Corporation using terminally ill kids. In the Season 1 finale, Wendy leads a revolt against her creators and seizes control of Neverland Island after overthrowing the facility leadership.
Noah Hawley created the series, which takes place within the Alien franchise universe. The production team plans to begin filming soon, but FX has not announced an official release date for Season 2.
