Erik Bergrud from the Kansas City Comets broadcast team and Thad Bell from the Kansas City Soccer Journal recorded recorded the latest episode of The Blue Turf at “The World Famous Kansas City Soccer Dome”. The Comets were the front runners for most of the MASL season but have dropped to fourth place as other teams closed the games-in-hand gap.
The Comets had a week off after the last match, a narrow 6-5 win over the eighth-place Utica City FC. The Comets were rested, and Utica played the night before, but Utica made it a close game. We discuss that match before turning our attention towards the remaining six matches in the season.
It will not be easy for the Comets. Three games on the road (San Diego Sockers twice and the Tacoma Stars) and three at home (San Diego twice again and Baltimore Blast). With four matches against perennial power and first-place San Diego, it will not be easy for Kansas City. If they get back in form, they have the possibility of climbing back up the standings. What do the Comets need to do, and how might they finish?
The Comets are back on the road Friday to face the Tacoma Stars, and Erik fills us in on their recent moves. Tacoma recently added the Tayou brothers, Franck and Uzi. Two experienced players that are well-traveled but can definitely bolster a struggling squad.

The @SanDiegoSockers currently hold first place, and have the most Possible Pts and the most xPts, with Milwaukee a close second.

With just 14 Pts and 32 Possible Pts, Utica needs to win out if they want any chance of making the playoffs. pic.twitter.com/gJ2H6DJbP1
