Vero Beach, FL. (March 4, 2026) – Alvernia University’s (3-1) Logan Nelson drove in three runs and Bobby Hansen and Jake Chapman both recorded two RBIs to power the Golden Wolves to a 10-2 victory over Capital University (7-2) Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference baseball matchup in Vero Beach, Florida.Â
The Golden Wolves posted five runs in the fourth inning and tacked on three more in the top of the sixth inning before adding insurance runs in the seventh and ninth en route to the eight run victory. Logan Nelson led the Golden Wolves with a 3-3 performance with three RBIs and a walk. Jake Chapman and Bobby Hansen followed with two RBIs a piece and Quincy Esannason and Jack Zabarsky also drove in runs for Alvernia.
How it Happened
 After a scoreless first three innings of baseball the Golden Wolves broke open the game and took a 5-0 lead and never looked back. Hansen got things going after driving in Esannason on a fielder’s choice and Zabarsky followed with a sacrifice fly to center to drive in Mike Pulcini to put the Golden Wolves up 2-0.Â
Nelson and Chapman then pushed the Alvernia lead to 5-0 after Nelson drove in Harold Ivery III and Hansen with a two RBI single and Chapman followed with an infield single that plated Will Woodring to cap the five run inning.Â
The Comets responded in the bottom half of the fifth inning with two runs after an RBI double down the left field line and an Alvernia error allowed a run to score to cut the Alvernia lead to three, 5-2.Â
The Golden Wolves bounced back in the next half inning with a three spot in the top of the sixth to extend the lead to six, 8-2. Nelson tallied his third RBI of the afternoon with another RBI single into the left center gap and Chapman worked a bases-loaded hit by pitch to drive in another run to make it 7-2.Â
Esannason made it an 8-2 ballgame after a bases-loaded fielder’s choice plated Woodring and pushed the lead to six.Â
Alvernia tacked on two more insurance runs in the seventh and the ninth innings en route to the victory. Woodring and Zabarsky executed a first and third steal opportunity that scored Zabarsky in the seventh inning and Hansen tallied his second RBI of the afternoon with an RBI single to right to score Pulcini in the ninth to cap the 10-2 win.Â
Inside the Box ScoreÂ
Logan Nelson led the Golden Wolves offensively with three hits, three RBIs and one walk. Bobby Hansen followed with two RBIs on two base hits and Chapman also drove in two runs.Â
Quincy Esannason drove in a run as well and Jack Zabarsky recorded an RBI, scored two runs and worked a walk.Â
Harold Ivery III and Will Woodring both recorded two runs scored and a base knock and Ivery III worked two walks while Woodring added one.Â
Tyler Weil-Kaspar recorded the win on the hill and tossed five innings, allowed six hits, two runs with only one being earned, issued three walks and struck out three batters.Â
Donovan Hughes tossed two scoreless innings in relief and allowed one hit and struck out three. Logan Solomine recorded a three up, three down inning in relief and Benjamin Palita finished the game on the bump for the Golden Wolves and tossed one inning of relief and struck out two batters.Â
