Pilot decided to go out on his own terms. And his own terms apparently involved flying past his home island then murdering hundreds of others alongside him by mysteriously crashing into the southern Indian Ocean.
Wasn’t there very prominent scientists on this plane? Which make it even weirder.

The weirdest part is what happened to leading expert on the case, and author Ean Higgins.
He disappeared after writing a book on it. Presumed dead.
In short, it seems that the investigators are firmly convinced that it was a hijacking by the pilot. They have an idea of where it should be but cannot find it despite that, and repeated seabed searches have failed to locate the wreckage. Further, there’s unresolved gaps, limited transparency, and insufficiently productive analysis of the evidence already available.
