Industry is invited to attend a briefing meeting on Thursday 19 February 2026 at 11:30 CET in relation to the Intended Invitation to Tender (Action no. 1-13092) titled “Use of existing LEO signals for a new hybrid generation of emergency radio-beacons: feasibility and demonstration”.
Current GNSS-based emergency radio-beacons face critical limitations in harsh environments where signal reception is impaired, such as during natural disasters, under snow or rubble, in war zones with jamming/spoofing, or in areas with limited sky visibility.
This proposal aims to explore a disruptive solution: the development and demonstration of a new hybrid generation of emergency radio-beacons that combine GNSS with Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Signals of Opportunity (SoOp).
The Tender Action will be presented with a Q&A session at the end.
