Feb. 13 (UPI) — A mysterious light in the sky over South Australia sparked speculation of UFO activity, but was likely the result of a European rocket launch in South America.

The light, which appeared as two beams swirled together moving through the sky, was spotted across South Australia at about 6 a.m. Friday.

The spectacle sparked speculation online, with theories including extraterrestrial visitors, spy aircraft and even a pigeon wearing a light-up vest.

Experts who reviewed footage of the scene said the light was most likely the result of the launch of the Ariane 6 rocket from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana.

The rocket, which launched about three hours before the South Australia sightings was carrying 32 Amazon satellites into orbit.
