The Greenville Comets were dealt a tough loss at home Tuesday night by the Pana Panthers.
Pana outscored the Comets 12 to 2 at the free throw line and won 55-53. The Panthers had 20 line attempts compared to four for the home team.
The Comets led most of the game. They were up by two at halftime and by six after three quarters. The Panthers outscored the Comets 20-12 in the final quarter to pull out the win.
GHS had trouble stopping Pana senior Cash Lynch, who scored 36 points and recorded the 1,000th point of his career in the first half.
Leading GHS in scoring were Christian Swalley with 17 points and Paxton Ackerman with 16. Austin Swalley added nine.
The junior varsity Comets beat Pana 54-44 as Cannon Hamel netted 21 points. He sank five three-point shots. Hayden Hediger scored 14 and Bauer Ackerman had seven.
The freshman Comets grabbed a 47-35 win as Hediger recorded 10 points, and Kollin Thompson and Kingston Holloway had nine apiece.
The Comets are off until next Tuesday when they play their final regular season home game against Staunton. It will also be Senior Night.
