When it comes to a conversation about Montana academia, it usually comes down to either the University of Montana or Montana State University.
However, there are other colleges throughout the state and one of them is located in one of the most historic towns in America. Yes, we’re talking about Montana Technological University which is in Butte.
Montana Technological University, or Montana Tech for short, has been educating students since 1900. What started out as the School of Mines has evolved over the years and in 1994 Montana Tech would become affiliated with the University of Montana.

Montana Tech offers several different degrees such as engineering, math, science, and technology, however, one field of study is gaining some national attention and just might put Montana Tech on the map.
Is Montana Tech offering UFO studies?
It was announced that Montana Tech is one of the first schools in the country to offers classes taking a serious look at the UFO phenomenon that has been a part of the nation for several decades.
What was once considered something a bit “kooky” has picked up steam in the last several years, especially with the release of Government documents siting that UFOs are indeed real.
Dr. Michael P. Masters is both an author and professor and will offer students a serious look into UFOs and what they could mean. Montana has it’s own history with UFOs including the famous Malmstrom UFO incident that took place back in 1967 during the Cold War
It should be noted that these classes will offer evidence regarding UFO sightings and studies. It should also be noted that at this time, there is no degree offered on the subject at Montana Tech.
