Lots of basketball action on Friday night around the area.

Check out the area scores, including Montabella boys winning their fourth straight game and the Coleman girls winning their first game since December.

BOYS BASKETBALL

VESTABURG 73, COLEMAN 37: Vestaburg’s strong first quarter helped the Wolverines to push past Coleman on Friday night.

Despite the loss, Coleman senior Logan Glazier recorded his 1,000th career point, scoring 18 on the night.

“I couldn’t be prouder of Logan. Reaching 1,000 points is a huge milestone,” Coleman head coach Courtney Neiderquill said. “It’s a testament to his work ethic, his consistency, and the way he leads this team every single night.”

Vestaburg had five players score in double figures, led by Brehm Warczinsky’s 19. Jansen Scholer finished with 16.

The Wolverines improve to 12-5 on the year, while Coleman drops to 7-10.

GRANT 64, CHIPPEWA HILLS 42: The Warriors came up short of a conference win on Friday night, falling to 4-3 in CSAA-Red play.

Kyle Dagley scored a team-high nine points. Maverick Chapman finished with six points.

BAY CITY JOHN GLENN 57, ALMA 29: The Alma Panthers fall on the road to John Glenn in TVC-Red action, dropping to 5-4 in conference play.

The Panthers were unable to get anything going offensively, but Koby Shunk led the team with 10 points.

Alma is now 11-7 on the season.

HEMLOCK 63, ITHACA 35: Ithaca drops its only game played this week.

Jaren Paradise led the team with 11 points.

The Yellowjackets fall to 4-13.

SACRED HEART 63, ST. CHARLES 46: The Irish wins its third straight game, beating MSAC-West rival on the road.

Noah Zeien finished with a team-high 23 points. Nate Siler added 19 points.

Sacred Heart remains perfect at 10-0 in conference play, and 12-3 overall.

BEAL CITY 54, ROSCOMMON 32: The Aggies sweep Roscommon, winning the second game on Friday night.

Cuyler Smith led the way with 20 points. Grady Gatrell finished with 18 points, and Drake Gatrell added 13.

Beal City moves to 15-1 and 10-1 in conference play.

MONTABELLA 67, ASHLEY 25: Montabella wins its fourth straight game, beating MSAC-rival Ashley.

Montabella improves to 12-6 on the season, and 7-3 in conference play.

Ashley falls to 1-16.

BRECKENRIDGE 67, CARSON CITY-CRYSTAL 28: The Huskies remain hot, winning their eighth straight contest.

Breckenridge is now 15-1 on the year, and 10-0 in conference play.

FULTON 58, MERRILL 42: The Pirates win their second straight contest, beating MSAC-rival Merrill.

Fulton improves to 5-6 in conference play, and 8-9 on the year.

MT. PLEASANT 72, MIDLAND DOW 63: Mt. Pleasant extends its winning streak to three games after beating SVL-North rival Midland Dow.

The Oilers move to 7-1 in conference play, and 14-4 overall.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

HEMLOCK 62, ITHACA 37: The Lady Jackets lose their second straight game, falling to TVC-Blue rival Hemlock on Friday night.

Alyssa Polash led the team with 17 points. Libby Maurer finished with 15 points.

Ithaca is now 4-2 in conference play, and 9-7 overall.

CHIPPEWA HILLS 53, GRANT 46: The Lady Warriors win a big conference matchup, grabbing their second win of the week.

Frankie Fall led the way with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds. Ella Grinnel added 11 points and seven assists.

Chippewa Hills is now 6-6 on the year, and 3-4 in conference play.

BAY CITY JOHN GLENN 49, ALMA 33: Alma’s previous five-game win streak was snapped on Friday night, as it fell to TVC-Red rival John Glenn.

Morgan Seeley led the way with 16 points and five rebounds. Lauren Seeley finished with seven points and five rebounds.

The Lady Panthers fall to 6-3 in conference play, and 10-5 overall.

INLAND LAKES 62, MONTABELLA 32: The Lady Huskies fall to 3-12 on the season, and 2-4 in conference play.

CLARE 55, MIDLAND BULLOCK CREEK 40: Clare girls improve to 10-5 on the season, and 8-4 in conference play.

COLEMAN 48, BALDWIN 37: The Lady Comets win their first game since December, beating Baldwin on Friday night.

Coleman is now 3-12 on the year.

BEAVERTON 69, FARWELL 23: Farwell girls drop to 0-15.

MT. PLEASANT 36, MIDLAND DOW 35: The Lady Oilers win their third-straight game, beating Midland Dow on Friday night.

Mt. Pleasant is 6-2 in conference play, and 13-3 overall.

OGEMAW HEIGHTS 35, SHEPHERD 27: The Lady Jays drop to 7-8 on the year, and 7-5 in conference play.

ROSCOMMON 61, BEAL CITY 25: The Lady Aggies fall to 2-13 on the season, and 1-9 in conference play.
