GL.iNet, a leading developer in OpenWrt-based networking and remote access solutions announces the launch of the Comet 5G (GL-RM10RC), the world’s first remote KVM with 5G RedCap (Reduced Capacity). With its cellular connectivity through 5G RedCap, Comet 5G can still provide remote access when Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection is down.

Multi-network Failover

Comet 5G features a multi-network failover system, it automatically switches from Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6, then cellular, ensuring the device stays online when the primary connection method fails. This makes Comet 5G suitable for troubleshooting and maintenance in air-gapped environments or disaster recovery cases, where network conditions are restricted and unstable.

Access Comet 5G Without Internet
Comet 5G features a “Nearby Control” function, allowing users to access and manage it locally. By broadcasting a local Service Set Identifier (SSID), Comet 5G creates a direct wireless management bridge for the controlling device. This means that Comet 5G can be deployed and operated in environments where even the controlling device lacks internet access, granting it extra on-site flexibility.

Large 64 GB eMMC Storage

Comet 5G expanded its onboard storage to 64 GB eMMC, offering ample storage space for more OS images. Paired with high-speed data transfer rates of up to 25 MB/s, it can effectively reduce recovery time in case of system failures.

Availability

Comet 5G is available for pre‑order starting on February 5th, 2026 through GL.iNet’s official website. The earlier you reserve, the better the price.
