The Director of Commercialisation and Industry Partnership will be a member of the ESA Executive Board and, in that role, will be responsible for contributing to ESA-wide management, supporting the Director General in his responsibilities in the pursuit of ESA’s overall objectives.

In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for ESA’s commercialisation and business development strategy. They will support the industrialisation and the commercialisation of space products and services, the development of integrated downstream applications and solutions, the scale-up on global markets as well as access to investments and finance for European space industry.

In addition, the Director will be responsible for ARTES 4.0 commercial partnership projects conducted with European and Canadian industries and operators, as well as the ELC (European Launcher Challenge) and Boost! programmes, both in close cooperation with ESA’s Directorate of Space Transportation. They will also manage ESA’s ACCESS (Accelerating Commercialisation and Competitiveness of European Space Sector) programme, along with other relevant programmes as required.

The Director will be the official Head of Establishment at ESA’s European Centre for Space Applications and Telecommunications (ECSAT) in Harwell, UK, where this position is based. Regular travel to other ESA sites is required.

Requirements

Applicants must have a minimum of a Master’s degree and be able to demonstrate innovation and strategic thinking as well as excellent leadership skills. They must have at least 10 years’ experience in a similar senior management role, handling teams and programmes with significant budgets and human resources, preferably in an international context.

Directors are responsible for ensuring the well-being, motivation, training and career progression of their workforce, incentivising a spirit of initiative, transparency, information flow and coordination with other Directorates.

The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.
