An impressive X8 solar flare just fired off from AR 4366. This is one of the strongest events of this solar cycle! Monitoring now for any associated CME. Usually these big flares have some sort of eruption with them, so even if it’s small, something may have launched off…
Does it mean auroras in the south/equator again? Is it gonna do something to earth?

SUVI 284 Å shows this is a violent eruption. Look at the rapid field-line movements and blast wave. Since the region is not directly facing Earth yet, I would not be surprised if the CME is heading mostly away from Earth, but we’ll see the coronagraph images and models…
The X8.11 flare from AR 4366 has generated a CME which may have Earth-directed components. You can see a clear shockwave traveling outwards from the site of the flare. It is too early to say if this CME will be heading away from Earth or if we may receive a glancing blow.
I get the feeling like yall want this to be the one

Knew something was coming when I saw the baseline Xray levels, which had fallen to B8-9 tier, suddenly start trending upwards back into mid and upper C-Tier. More active and unstable sunspots glow brighter in X-Rays, and an abrupt upswing like that means chances are this X8.0 aint the last of it.
Wonder how big this sunspot will get? We are about due for some big Jupiter sized ones.

This one was pretty indirectly facing us though no? So it could be a result in negligible auroras. Though I see another fired off shortly after.

So exciting!! Not Carrington by any means but there have been two powerful followup flares than means we’re headed for one big auroral show!

All the food has lost its flavour, humans are taking shelter underground and in order to travel or come to the surface the people must surface during the night and avoid sunrise.

Isnt this kind of like saying “The biggest hurricane since last hurricane season.” ?

The second strongest Earth-facing #SolarFlare since 2017 is currently underway on the Sun! X8.0-class levels exceeded.
