I like that theory, good along with the batteries they were using. Nice outlook on it.

No most likely not. The precision is way to good , only reason i can imagine is airtight containers.
The handles have those holes that could be used to pinch a lid on.

Why would they conceal the light source in something that would block most the light, reducing it to a super dim glow that hardly illuminates anything rather than just leave the light source uncovered so that it can illuminate more?
In that first picture, it’s obvious that a majority of the light isn’t getting through. It wouldn’t illuminate much of anything, you’d mostly just have a jar that glows.
It might illuminate as well as a glowstick, but I think worse, with that little light actually getting through. (I’m ignoring the 2nd picture because I’m like 95% sure it’s AI.)
So I’m going to go with no. This seems like it would’ve been an extremely impractical thing to use for lighting.
