The COMET, a service of the Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority, has announced their fixed-route and DART service will be suspended on Saturday, January 31, in its service areas within Richland and Lexington Counties out of an abundance of caution due to inclement weather and potentially hazardous conditions.

Service on USC Transit powered by The COMET will also be suspended on Saturday, January 31.

All services will proceed as normally scheduled for today, January 30.

Governor Henry McMaster has also extended South Carolina’s State of Emergency from last Wednesday over the weekend in reaction to the extreme winter weather that is expected across the state.

“Unlike last weekend, there’s no threat of deadly ice damage and extended power outages – just slushy snow on roads and bridges that could freeze overnight into Sunday morning. Stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. As a precaution, last Wednesday’s state of emergency has remained in effect for this weekend,” McMaster stated in a post on X.
