OLIVET, Mich. – Back in action on a Tuesday night in south central Michigan, the Alma College men’s wrestling team took the mat facing off against The University of Olivet on January 27th. The Scots were out powered on the night as the Comets defeated he Scots by a final score of 39-12.
Alma opened the night with a victory in the 125-weight division as Jushawn Ferrel Jr was awarded a win by forfeit, giving Alma an early six in the match. After Olivet responded with six points of their own in the next bout, Dominic Gumtow took the mat with a score all tied up through two matches. Gumtow faced off against Desmond King in the 141 division where Gumtow made quick work on his opponent going on offense and taking down and pinning King in 1:32, giving Alma another six points. Olivet would take the remainder of the matches, bringing the final score to 39-12 at the conclusion of the match.
Alma will now have a quick turnaround as they will prepare for the Pete Willson Invite hosted by Wheaton College (IL), on Friday and Saturday, January 30th and 31st. The two-day event will begin at 11:00 AM CT each day.Â
