NASA has a new leader, Jared Isaacman, and on Monday, he visited the NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View to meet his new staff.
In his visit, Isaacman told staff to expect a busy future—both for the space agency and Ames in particular.
It all starts next month, with the planned launch of the Artemis 2, the first crewed mission to the moon since Apollo 17 in 1972.
Isaacman also sat down for an exclusive interview with NBC Bay Area to talk about, among other things, why he’s especially excited for America to return to the moon.
“I am eager for the return. I’m eager for my children to see this, children all around the world. I think this is going to be a moment that’s going to captivate the world’s interest again in NASA,” Isaacman said.
Isaacman went into space a little more than a year ago as part of the Polaris Dawn mission.
