Playing in the Vandalia Girls Mid-Winter Tournament on Monday, the Greenville Lady Comets lost to second-seeded Wesclin 35-26.

It was a low-scoring first half as Wesclin held an 8-7 lead at halftime.  The difference in the game was the third quarter, with Wesclin outscoring GHS 14-6 in that frame.

The Warriors outscored the Lady Comets 10-3 at the free throw line and made seven three-point shots.  The GHS squad totaled five three-point buckets.

Leading scorers for the Lady Comets were Kaitlyn Lurkins with seven points and Ella Kleiner with six.

The Lady Comets’ next game in the tournament is at 7:30 p.m. Thursday against Vandalia in the consolation bracket.
