Today is another great day for fans of Alien: Earth thanks to some exciting news from Disney and FX. Alien: Earth has had a spree of good news lately. Alien: Earth season 1 ended on a high note with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 94%. FX also recently confirmed Alien: Earth season 2, meaning fans of the show will get some resolution to season 1’s cliffhanger ending and more of Wendy’s story.
Alien: Earth creator Noah Hawley also recently signed an expanded deal with FX, so the future of the show is incredibly bright. That being said, fans of Alien: Earth also have even more to look forward to besides Wendy and Xenomorphs thanks to a new announcement. Now, Earth fans have a new adaptation of a beloved fiction franchise to look forward to.
Alien: Earth Creator Noah Hawley Is Developing A Far Cry Show

Now, Alien: Earth creator Noah Hawley is developing a show based on the video game franchise Far Cry. Hawley is co-creating the series with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star and creator Rob Mac (formerly McElhenney), who is also set to star in the first season. It’s not yet clear what the show’s story will be about, but it will likely fit in with Far Cry’s broader themes of rebellion and warfare on the frontier.
The report also noted that the upcoming Far Cry show will be an anthology, much like Hawley’s previous series Fargo. Hawley and Mac’s Far Cry series is also set to be a new story in a new location rather than a direct adaptation of an existing game. That follows the strategy of several contemporary video game TV adaptations, such as Fallout and Arcane, both of which tell new stories in established fictional worlds and have received high praise.
This is also far from the first time Noah Hawley has been tasked with adapting an iconic piece of fiction into a television format. Hawley previously adapted Fargo into a five-season show, and Alien: Earth was the first TV installment in the Alien franchise. Now, Hawley will be able to tackle Far Cry’s six numbered installments and several more standalone games and DLCs.
Alien: Earth Proves Noah Hawley Is Perfect For A Far Cry Adaptation

The news of a Far Cry adaptation led by Noah Hawley is such great news for Alien: Earth fans because it proves he’s the perfect person to tackle such a project. As previously mentioned, Hawley has a lot of experience with making spinoffs set in established fictional universes. As Alien: Earth proved, he can completely understand the broader themes and appeal of a franchise and use them to tell a new, engaging story.
Far Cry has been adapted before, as a 2008 movie directed by Uwe Boll and starring Til Schweiger. That film, however, was almost universally criticized and was a major box office bomb.
Take, for example, the way Alien: Earth recaptured the magic of the original Alien. Everything, from the set design of the USCSS Maginot to the behavior and sheer terror of the Xenomorphs, demonstrated that Hawley had a deep respect for and understanding of what people want to see from a new Alien story. He also knows exactly how to blend the familiar with the novel and push a franchise to new heights, like he did with Earth’s examination of human-synthetic hybrids.
There’s no reason to believe that Hawley won’t be able to give Far Cry the same treatment he gave Alien. Under Hawley’s leadership, the Far Cry television show could be just as acclaimed as Alien: Earth or Fallout. Hawley is going to understand why people love Far Cry so much, and his unique perspective is going to give the franchise the breath of fresh air it hasn’t had since (arguably) Far Cry 3.
