UTICA, N.Y. — The Utica Comets and the Save of the Day Foundation are celebrating the life and career of Jack Kane.

Kane passed away on Oct. 12 at the age of 88.

Original Clinton Comets Captain Jack Kane Dies at 89

The Utica Comets announced today that original captain of the Clinton Comets Jack Kane has passed away. 

Kane, originally from Toronto, moved to the Mohawk Valley in 1960 and became the all-time leading scorer for the Clinton Comets.

He led the team to four Walker Cup championships and seven division titles.

Kane also coached Clinton Youth Hockey and Clinton Central High School, achieving significant success.

To honor Kane, the Comets will host a special event this Friday at the Adirondack Bank Center.

“Kane further cemented his legacy as a community leader by giving back through clinics, benefit games, and youth instruction at the Harris-Keon Hockey School and Colgate University Hockey School,” according to the Utica Comets. 

The game against the Belleville Senators starts at 7:15 p.m. with a pregame ceremony at 7 p.m.

Tickets are available for $15, and fans can purchase specialty pins and pucks created in Kane’s honor.
