As unlucky as I am, the first and only clear skies in two months happened to coincide with the brightest full moon of the year: The Beaver Supermoon on November 5, 2025. But when life gives you lemons, make lemonade! So, I challenged myself.
Target: Wizard Nebula (NGC 7380).
Equipment: Skywatcher 200 PDS (upgraded), Skywatcher EQ-6R, Svbony SV220 Filter, Canon 6Da (modified), Svbony 705C for guiding, SV220 7nm Dual NB Filter
Acquisition: 75 x 180' Lights, 30 Darks, 50 Flats, 50 Bias, ISO 1600
Total integration: 3h45m
Processing: Stacked using Siril, Gradient removal and crop using GraXpert, PMCC and stretch using GHS, Starnet++ for starmask + background, Final tweaking and composition using Gimp.
Considering the short integration time and poor conditions, I'm quite happy with the results. I think the results could be a bit better with better processing tools, skills, and time. For now, though, I think this is good enough.
